I grew up on boats – in fact that’s part of what this adventure is all about! My family sailed from Maine to the Bahamas for a year when I was 9 (turning 10) and after that I worked on Whale Watches, and pleasure boats, and have owned several sailboats. As to how I learned all the DIY and repair work… I’ve had to teach myself via books, videos, and helpful friends and strangers. As I told one neighbor at the boat yard “I know how to do all this stuff because I’m not rich and I own a 46 year old boat!”
